In an attempt to strengthen the Lean Management global standardisation within this leading automotive business, Proco Global was retained on a confidential search for the newly created position of a Vice President Global Lean & European Operations Director (dual function) for a matrix organisation. The location of the position was flexible, open to being based in Europe or the USA, but the overriding factor was to find the highest calibre of candidate without restricting where the candidate was located.
As this was a confidential search we applied direct head hunting skills to approach specific, key competitors within the automotive sector. The main experience required was a candidate coming from a strong technical background in Lean Operations matched with experience in driving global strategic operations initiatives across an organisation.
We developed an initial long list of 167 potential candidates located around the globe; North America, South America, EMEA & Asia. Following initial technical and competency screening by our global research team, we were able to present a shortlist of nine suitable candidates within four weeks of the search commencing. All shortlisted candidates were all invited for a first stage interview with the client.
Following the first stage interviews there were three candidates who progressed to a second, third and fourth stage interviews meeting various Presidents and business leaders within the organisation. We managed the organisation and coordination of the interviews across the EMEA and North American market.
The client was very impressed with the calibre of the candidates presented, all being a suitable match and with the required global tier 1 automotive background. We worked closely with the client to present an attractive offer to the chosen candidate, with the position being filled within the timescales at 26 weeks from initial brief to signed contract.
